A Quick Orientation of Seville
Despite being one of Spain's largest cities, Seville is rather compact and easy to get around, with the hinterland countryside visible from most areas. The city's focal points are in the east and west parts, Santa Cruz and the ancient port of Seville respectively.
Santa Cruz is regarded as one of the most charming city districts in Andalusia and encompasses the magnificent Seville Cathedral, La Giralda Tower and Calle de las Sierpres shopping street among its treasures. However, most of Seville's attractions are located in the western district that fronts the Guadalquivir River. It is here that the soaring Torre del Oro tower stands sentinel over the site of the former harbour, while visitors can also watch bullfights at the huge Plaza de Toros de la Maestranzas or take in some quality performing arts at the theatre and opera house.
The north part of Seville is quieter than the other sections of the city and is a great place to stroll and soak up some of the traditional ambience created by the tapas bars and delightful street stalls.
