A Quick Orientation of Portland
A number of theatres, art galleries and other attractions can be found in the city's central cultural district including the Portland Art Museum and the Portland Centre for the Performing Arts. The inner southeast area of the city is the trendy and bohemian Hawthorne district, with its many bookstores, antique shops, restaurants, artists, musicians and hippies. To the north of East Side is the Lloyd district, home to a number of civic amenities and the Rose Garden Arena sports stadium.
Also known as Nob Hill, Northwest Portland is an affluent area with attractive residential streets, restaurants and brewpubs. The Old Town district and Chinatown in southeast Portland are lively arts and entertainment areas. Nearby Pearl district was formerly an industrial area, but is now one of Portland's most stylish and fashionable locales, with boutiques, cafés, restaurants, art galleries and more.
