A Quick Orientation of Nashville
From a tourist perspective, the downtown area of Nashville is the most important area in the city. Major attractions here include the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gaylord Entertainment Center. This part of town also has many of the best restaurants and a number of live music venues. Heading east from downtown is the East Nashville district, home to historic buildings, tidy sidewalks and the Tennessee Titans.
West of downtown is the West End district, home to the Vanderbilt University and the world-renowned Music Row, a stretch of dozens of recording studios which over the years have seen some of the best country artists in the US cut records here. There are also some high quality restaurants in the vicinity and the trendy neighbourhood of Elliston Place. The Opryland area is the place to head for Nashville's main country music venue. Opryland music venue also has golf course situated close by and a hotel, the Grand Old Opry.
