A Quick Orientation of Miami
As well as being defined by its beaches and architecture, Miami is characterized by its ethnic diversity and distinct neighborhoods, some of which aren't easily definable. Vibrant downtown Miami is an excellent place to head when you hit the city - it's jam-packed with shops, restaurants and cafés. Downtown's Flagler street is an atmospheric strip filled with shops and entertainment options and is an attraction in itself. When you're downtown, don't forget to look up or you'll miss some of the architectural gems that abound in the area. The boundaries of downtown Miami are roughly between northeast 15th street and southeast 24th street, running from the Biscayne Bay waterfront to I-95.
With over 800 stunning Art Deco buildings between 5th and 23rd streets, Miami's Art Deco district is not to be missed and has taken on an iconic status in the city.
Miami's South Beach Area, or SoBe, is also legendary and a great place to visit for its trendy galleries, shops, eateries and stunning beaches. By day it's a popular hangout and place to top up your tan and by night the ten blocks of Ocean drive are transformed into the place to be for Miami's effervescent nightlife. There are countless other districts and an array of glorious beaches to explore when you arrive at this exciting city.
