A Quick Orientation of Mallorca
Palma de Mallorca sits in the Bay of Palma, in the southwestern corner of the island. As the capital and main air hub of Mallorca, it is from here that most visitors begin their holiday, with the majority of tourists choosing to stay at one of the island's beach resorts.
The northwest coastline offers a number of resorts, with Illa Sa Dragonera, Sóller, Pollenca and Valldemossa being the most popular among visitors. The northeast coast only offers one main resort, Alcúdia, which sits in the large Bay of Alcúdia. The southeast coast of the island has few resorts and Cala Mondragó is the busiest centre.
The island's hinterland is also worthy of exploration, with Campos del Puerto, Felanitx, Manacor, Sineu, Llucmajor and Inca attracting visitors seeking a taste of more traditional Balearic life.
