A Quick Orientation of Las Vegas
Las Vegas can be rather daunting when you first touch down. The huge hotels and extravagant architecture are quite bewildering to the uninitiated. When it comes to finding your way around though, it isn't that difficult. Much of what is of interest is central to Las Vegas boulevard, affectionately referred to as 'The Strip'.
On arrival from the airport, you will travel northbound. The first places that will catch your eye are the Excalibur, Luxor and the Mandalay Bay super-hotels. The Tropicana avenue crossroads are also home to the MGM Grand, Tropicana, New York and slightly farther, the Monte Carlo. Between Spring Mountain road and the Harley Davidson Café near Harman avenue are many more internationally famous hotels including Caesars Palace. Continuing north is the Fashion Mall on the left, along with a number of other smaller retail outlets before you reach the area known as Freemont street.
