Houston's downtown area is located in the heart of the city and is home to imposing skyscrapers as well as a large historical district offering old streets and the city's famous theatre district. To the south of downtown is Midtown, an attractive part of the city with interesting shops and buildings, while to the southwest of the city centre is the museum district, boasting a number of excellent museums and galleries.
Many shops, bars and restaurants can be found in the Uptown area, with its plentiful entertainment options. To the northwest of Houston's downtown is the historical neighbourhood of The Heights, brimming with antique shops and charming Victorian buildings.
